New Content is on the Way!
Although CMS systems (like WordPress) are the future of web design, there are a few downsides. A big one is maintenance. The backbone of a wordpress website is the theme. The theme holds all of the coding language and is controlled by a user interface. Then, you have plugins which add different functionality to your theme. And on top of that, you have add-ons which enhance the plugins. Now, the tricky part. Themes, plugins, and add-ons are created by different developers/companies. This means that each plugin needs to be compatible with your particular theme, and each add-on needs to support the plugin. Any given website can have 5-15 different plugins (with multiple add-ons) that all have to play nicely. And to make matters worse, they all release updates at different times. I don’t mean to get overly complex, but there’s a lot to this.
Maintenance is the key to managing this whole mess. Frond Marketing handles all of the updates. We also handle the problems that can result from one plugin updating before another plugin or add-on updates. We perform backups. Each site has different needs, but they all get full backups weekly. We also have storage redundancy at an off-site location to solve any localized server/hosting issues. Security monitoring is also important. Hackers target websites more than you think. While most of the time it’s just an annoyance (with possible data loss), you have to be concerned about brute force attacks and spam. You know the importance of online security, I don’t think I need to elaborate. Finally, we have tracking and reporting with all of our maintenance plans.
